Watch Out, It's Catching...Shhhhh!
Bass Fishing in Charles CountyOn the Potomac River, locals used to say that our largemouth bass fishing was our best kept secret. Today, that can’t be further from the truth since the Potomac has received national acclaim as a world class fishery. But that’s O.K. because we’ve got another secret. Fantastic, rod-bending stripers! Whether you troll, jig, or cast, striped bass action can be found year-round on the Potomac River.
Is this a new secret you ask? Absolutely not, why even Captain John Smith, back in 1608, marveled about their huge size and vast numbers. In fact, the striper (locally known as Rockfish), is Maryland’s state fish.
You have an open invitation to visit Charles County, and don't forget to bring your bucktail and casting rod. Plan your trip to include both striper and largemouth; it will be an experience you won't forget!

LICENSE/FEES: The Potomac's main river, as well as its Maryland and Virginia tributaries, can be fished with a Maryland tidal license. MARYLAND Tidal License is $14; Tidal 5-day License is $6. Fishing above the I-95 Bridge requires a D.C. license. WASHINGTON DC Non-Resident License is $10 and 14-day License is $5.

LARGEMOUTH BASS, ROCKFISH/STRIPER SEASON:
Spring: April 22 - May 31; Summer/Fall: June 1 - Dec 31
